paranoia

Hmmmm, I am going to need to rein in the paranoia that NaComLeavMo is instilling in me because no-ones commenting!!

I had lots of comments the first three days, but nothing today, and it slightly depressing to know that I will never ever, ever, be able to compete with Confessions of a Pioneer Woman who is currently up to 7206 (yes seven thousand two hundred and six) comments on one post because she is giving away a Zune! All I can say is that her inbox must be groaning and her eyes a bit sore with all that reading and that I am not in the least bit jealous! ;-) Updated the following morning to add that she now has 10528 comments and the competition is closed!!

I have to remind myself that not everyone wants to read what I say, nor has the time to comment on everything and that is it not the end of the world if I don't have another comment; and perhaps I should actually write something new (and interesting) if I want to catch your attention!

This may not necessarily be an interesting post, but it's all I can come up with at this moment! What I would like to know though is how do you overcome writers block, do you make something up, rummage around for yet another meme, delve into your memory banks, pick something that happened today and really focus on it!? What to you do to inspire yourself?

Well I enjoyed your first post so much that I added you to my rss feed reader! As for writers block I'm finding it easier as I fall in to a pattern of posting. I asked readers for questions, and in answering them have already got good ideas for 3 more posts.

I've had only a few comments too, but then I've been slow in posting. But Hi! I hope to get to know you better!

I don't get many readers or comments on my blog either. So I would be crap at giving advice to attract either of those. But I thought I would say hi anyway and let you know I AM out here reading.

Over 10,000 comments? Are you serious? Jeez. That's crazy.

Re writer's block. Unfortunately, I tend to need to rein(sp) myself in rather than try to push something out (at least in blogland; work is another story). Even though one of my blog's is anonymous, I still need to keep my potty mouth and random thoughts a little more in check, I think. Katie's right - patterns and habit help. Reading and visiting other blogs almost always help my writer's block, as does trolling the news headlines - there is almost always something that you can find that you agree with/disagree with/want to add to.

I'm a lurker usually but NaComLeavMo is encouragine me to speak up and say hello. I'm an infertility blogger but enjoyed reading your blog. And -- thanks for coming by mine.

As for writer's block, sometimes I write about my past, or hopes for the future. Comment on the news or hobbies. My dogs are always good for a post! My problem is less a lack of ideas than a lack of (mental) energy so I don't post as often as I wish I could.

I am thankful that I don't have thousands of people visiting my site. It seems like five minutes after a blog gets really popular evil snarky people start to wander in and screw with things. As far as writer's block- I just don't blog if I don't feel the urge. I know it will come, and forcing it means I won't enjoy it!

so funny, i obsess over comments and i am always shocked at how i will write some crap and get a million comments, then put together a well-thought-out post and get none! funny! i get writers block a lot, so what i do is when i'm being extra creative i jot down topics and write about them and keep them in draft, and when i can't come up with anything new, i post one of them. that, or i just post a picture that i like. when i am completely in a drought, i often get inspired by other bloggers who are just so insightful and it makes me start thinking, and then i come up with something as if by magic.
