Forgiveness

What is one of your favorite attributes of God, and why?

This is the first directly religious question that has been posed on the Christian Women Online blog - Internet Cafe Devotions - and I feel slightly uncomfortable about answering it.

Why? Because I still have that hang-up from school where it was quite distinctly uncool to be seen as anything even vaguely religious, whether that be Christian, Muslim, Jewish or whatever else there is. So, I still feel reluctant to be quite so open about talking about my own Christianity unless I am with people of similar beliefs and as there are so many of you out there that have such wide ranging beliefs and convictions I still don't quite want to stand out quite so obviously!

This is not a Faith Blog, it is a Me Blog and is about my thoughts and happenings, which includes being more accepting about who I am and what I think, do and believe, which is how I can admit that I don't really want to talk about this because it makes me uncomfortable. But that's okay because I know that God will forgive me; and that is the attribute that I think makes God God because He knows what I am like (even though I am working on it!) and yet He still forgives me!

If you want to read how other people have answered the question, just click on the link above for Internet Cafe Devotions and scroll down a bit!

wow...that was so honest! That is something I love about God too...He doesn't lay the burden of being perfect on our shoulders.

Thanks for sharing. It is so hard to be open when you are not sure how you will be perceived. NCLM

You will find lots of support from Christians in bloggy-land. Many will encourage you and help you be a better person. I like that. It is best to be and know what you are, share that with others and take the lumps that may come. You never know who it will help.
Thank you for stopping by my blog!

God's forgiveness is there - it is human forgiveness that is more difficult to obtain. Of all the human's who have found it difficult to forgive, it is myself who has been most unforgiving of me.
I wrote a post on my blog and on blogher called "I Apologize to Myself." It got lots of hits on blogher. It's funny, after I wrote it, I wrote another entry, "I Apologize to Others." It got only a fraction of the hits.

I thank God and ask God's forgiveness every day for what we human's are doing to muck up this beautiful, bountiful world we were given.

Thanks for this post.

I don't think that God is upset for you not wanting to write about one of His attributes. People write about what they want to on their blogs. Plus, I've been realizing that I learn a lot more about God by reading all the other blogs than by writing on my own. There are things that I don't write about either, because I personally know some of the people reading my blog and I don't want them to know certain things about me.

Sam, you do what you need to do sister. It sounds like to me God is working on you, meeting you just where you are at this time in your life, just like He is the rest of us. That's why He is God and He is so awesome. He forgives us and cleanses us from all unrighteousness at the point of salvation, a work He did on the cross for us a long time ago, then He forgives us when we ask Him daily (again, because of the work on the cross a long time ago for those who accept Him), He picks us up, and He carries us, knowing that as humans, we make mistakes and we don't understand everything. His thoughts are higher than ours, but He wants to be no mystery to us concerning His Word and how we are to obey Him. You just stay in the Word, keep praying, keep communicating, and keep foraging ahead. There should be no judges against you out there in Christendom, just prayerful warriors, loving on each other, admonishing and supporting each other, and encouraging each other right where we are in that moment. Sometimes we're more compassionate, sometimes forward, should always be honest, but do all in love and for the glory of God. Thank you for your post and honesty. I really appreciated it.
