Phoebe is this week's subject for Show and Tell! She is a lovely fluffy silverish cat as you can see from the photograph.
I regret to say that she is a rescue cat, her previous owners moved house and left her behind! Fortunately she was found by the Cat Protection Society who found her a 'foster' home, got her fed properly and made sure that she was all clean (not to mention spayed!) and then I came along and chose her.
I can actually remember how it all happened (mind you, it was only about two and a half years ago!), I had finally decided that I wanted a cat and thought that it would be best to get one from the Cat Protection Society and so I found their website and registered my interest in having a cat. Did you know that you have to have a visit from the society to see whether you are a suitable cat owner? Needless to say, I passed the test and they recommended that I get an older cat rather than a kitten as I at work most days.
As much as I would have liked a kitten, I agreed that it would be best for me and the cat if the cat were a bit older. Then I picked Phoebe from the pictures on the website and spent most of Christmas worrying that someone would pick her or that her previous owners would try and reclaim her.
Two and half years later, I am not entirely sure who's the boss of this relationship!! She sits in front of the computer when I am trying to type, she paws at me in the wee hours of the morning demanding an early breakfast, she turns her nose up at her food sometimes and I have to restrain myself from putting down a fresh lot!
It is quite lovely to come home to a cat that is belly-up on the hall running expecting a tummy rub, lovely to have a cat that will curl up in your lap even though you're just about to get up and do something else! She's my little Phoebe and I love her to bits!! (even if one of my brothers calls her Feeble!)

Phoebe is a beautiful cat. My dog is a rescue as well, one I adopted from a local animal shelter. My heart broke the days my husband and I spent wandering through the various shelters, looking for the dog we wanted to adopt. I wanted to rescue all of them.
My cat was a stray living in the parking lot of the courthouse where I worked at the time. A coworker convinced me to take him and I've never regretted it for a moment.
We do a good thing by taking in these animals and yet often times it feels like them who are really the ones who rescued us.
How could anyone leave such a lovely cat behind! My cat, Lucy, is just the same - walks all over the computer keyboard or sits on it, stands in front of the screen and wakes me up by miaowing in my face - I wouldn't be without her.
Phoebe is definitely a beautiful cat.
I took in a rescue cat shortly after my third miscarriage - turned out to be an even better decision than I had thought it was initially. :0)
Thank you for sharing your lovely lady with us.
Beautiful cat. Reminds me of the cat I had when I was a girl. Great Show and Tell!
Aaaaw Phoebe is absolutely gorgeous!
She is adorable! I wish there was a society that went to people's homes to determine whether they were fit to have children before they were allowed to get pregnant. ;)
I used to bring home stray animals all the time. My poor hubby issued a cease and desist order on that behavior, but I do still have my mutt (who came from a homeless encampment).
Your Phoebe is beautiful!! I have been posting pics of my cats for Show & Tell, too!! I just love them to pieces and can't help wanting to show them off.
And I am so happy to hear you adopted her from a rescue shelter. Two of my cats are purebreds and as much as I love them I will probably never have another. There are just too many GOOD cats who need homes in shelters.
Phoebe looks gorgeous and love those eyes. Her fur coat is beautiful. :)
