These six photographs contain the memories of Christmas 1996, and they make me smile even now, twelve years later! Mum has given me permission to post this photos, and I apologise for the poor quality as I used my camera to get electronic copies - I should have remembered to scan them at work! (Also - you should be able to click on the photos themselves if you want to see larger pictures)
Anyway....
Nana and Grandad were spending some time over Christmas with us, it may have been Christmas Day itself or a day soon after, I cannot actually remember.
The first picture shows my oldest brother (he must have been 19 and he definitely doesn't have that long hair now!) demonstrating a party trick that requires two people to be joined together by rope at their wrists and the point is to work out how get free. (Grandad's helping in the corner!) He got Mum and Nana to play this game....
In the second picture you can see Mum and Nana concentrating very hard and thinking about how to release themselves from their predicament....
The first signs of laughter appear in the third picture, although Mum is still concentrating....
Mum's cracked up now and they still can't get free....
Both Nana and Mum are now in fits of laughter....
And Mum ends up wiping away tears of laughter.....
I don't actually remember this moment, but the photos show what happened so clearly that is all comes back to me and leaves me smiling for a long time, even as I wipe away a little tear cos I miss my Nana. (What surprises me is that the mantle behind Mum and Nana is so bare of ornaments, you should see it now!!!)
Don't forget...more Show and Tell is going on over at Lollipop Goldstein's!!

Sam, those are some wonderful photos. I'd completely forgotten about that moment, but it all comes flooding back. That was hilarious. Also, very nice to have a reminder of Nana at this time of year.
And yes, if I were still able, I'd have that hair now!
those are the kinds of memories that really make the holidays special. what a lovely way to remember your nana.
Lovely photos. Thanks for sharing. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas.

What great family memories. Thank you for sharing your family story.
Those are great. What nice holiday memories. But what are they wearing on their heads? Crowns?
Way to capture a moment and a memory. Thanks for sharing!
You forgot to explain the crowns!
The sequence of photos is lovely, with such genuine, warm smiles.
The 'crowns' are thin paper hats that come inside the christmas crackers. We have a very old and silly family tradition that the hat that stays on longest makes the owner the winner. We win nothing but due aclaim but the competition has been known to be so fierce that some hats have been worn to bed! Sams Mum.
Great photos! Thanks for sharing.
Happy Holidays!
My heart is so warm looking at the sequence of photos. THAT is what Christmas is all about. (I'm on a holy grail mission to figure it out this year, so thanks!)
I see a scrapbook page in those photos!
Beautiful photos, thank you so much for sharing.
Enjoy your day!

What lovely memories.
What a wonderful memory.
I love how you can actually not remember something, but a photo or video can bring it to you just the same. I have some of those memories myself. I think we all do.
Such wonderful memories. Makes me smile looking at them.
Great photos. Looks like a fun time.
lovely family memories and it looks like a fun game.
