Yes, I've been dealt a double whammy today! I start back at work this morning after a lovely week off work and last night my youngest brother left after a month of staying with me.
Let's take the latter first...Matt was staying with me for a little while with a view to possibly staying here in the longer term while he saves up to do a bit more travelling. It didn't take long for him to decide that my local area wasn't for him, which does make sense because his friends are in his university town, and if he moves back with Mum and Dad then he knows the area far better with regards job hunting.
The upshot of that was that he only stayed a month and while I would have liked his company for longer, it has been a lovely month. Especially with a cup of tea waiting for me when I got home from work! As someone who primarily lives alone, it has been great having someone else in the house. It's not merely about the conversation or the hogging of the bathroom, just the fact that there is another person there makes the house feel different.
Of course, added to that IS the conversation, the laughter and the working together (I was the designated dryer-upper!!) and I have thoroughly enjoyed his company. As much as I wont miss the teasing, I will miss my youngest brother (until I see him again!!).
Now...work...I don't know anyone who enjoys that first day back at work after a few days off, and I most definitely am not one of them! There's usually a billion emails waiting to be read as well as a pile 0f paperwork on the desk that's accumulated although I am hoping that with the recent snow there wont be the volume that there usually is.
But hey-ho, going to work is what pays the bills and lets me have a nice holiday every now and then, so I gotta go do it!!

Oh wow, yes, that must make your house feel empty after a month. Hopefully he will come back again soon.
I am far too intolerant to have anyone stay with me - however much I like them I would probably get fed up very quickly.
Hey Sam, I do. I enjoy going to back to work after a long break... :D
Lots of things to stir up the emotions and keep you on your toes. Hope work gets better.
Lovely post, Sam. I envy you your relationship with your brother (I wrote on my blog about losing my younger brother Rob). It's really nice to read your thoughts about spending time with your brother.
Hope you are happily back at work now!
Cheers.
