Vive Le Weekend!

Especially weekends with the parents where I get tea in bed and a cooked breakfast!! I very rarely have a cooked breakfast these days, but when I go to Mum and Dad's for the weekend Dad nearly always cooks up a breakfast on Saturday and this morning it was very much appreciated - sausage, chipped potatoes and fried bread - it doesn't sound like much, but it was very tasty, especially the marmite on the potatoes!

I know that many people wouldn't call that a proper cooked breakfast because it doesn't include all the other bits and pieces, but I am a fussy eater (as many people will tell you) and that little cooked breakfast was just right. And the best thing was that I didn't cook it myself, food is always best when someone else slaves away in the kitchen. (thanks Dad!)

A weekend at my childhood home is always a relaxing one, I usually sleep better...whether that's because I am surrounded by people (and dog!) that can listen out for me, or whether I am simply back in my childhood home and so I relax more, I simply do not know. Whatever the cause I nearly always unwind very well in this house that Mum and Dad have lived in for thirty years and I know every nook and cranny even if I am no longer quite so certain where the biscuit tin is ever since Dad reorganised the kitchen!

Ahh, there's such immense power in going home, isn't there?

We are not quite so alienated, quite so lost in the hugeness of a modern world where no one seems to know anyone, if we can go home.
