Blogs abound, there are simply thousands of them on the internet, but I want to talk about one, just one....I found it the other day and it suits my Christmas mania very nicely.

It is Santa's blog! Yes, believe it or not, he blogs! Santa is relatively new to blogs as he has only been blogging for just over two years - this will be his third Christmas; and I strongly recommend that you take it a look and make sure that you are on the right side of the naughty and nice list!

However Santa is having problems this year - the Elves are on strike - does this sound familiar?! It clearly seems to be the year for striking, although I am sure that Santa will do his best to make sure that we all get our presents!!

Blogs!

I happened to read about an online survey about blogs (carried out by a librarian surveying blogging librarians!) - you can read about it here - I think that it makes for quite interesting reading.

But the reason why I am talking about this is because there is a little statistic that shows that some people read more than 200 (yes two hundred) blogs - whether by actually visiting them or just having the rss feed I don't recall. However, that little fact made me stagger - do people actually read all those, more to the point is how the heck do they find the time to do so!!

I read about 8-10 blogs and that is via my rss feeds page on pageflakes, so I only read them when there is something new, otherwise I would be forever checking the blogs to see if someone has written something interesting!

If I think about it though, I do think that there is the potential for me to read umpteen blogs, perhaps I just haven't found the ones that I want to read about yet!! That raises another question though - how do people find all those blogs!!

I tend to find mine through links on other blogs or through places like "blogs of note" on blogger, perhaps one will get mentioned in the media or something, so I go and have a look. Mind you, I have to remember that this is not an overnight collection of blogs - I bet some of those "more than 200 blogs" people have built up those collections over a few months, if not years!!

Gift of the gab!

Some people very naturally have the gift of the gab (or pen or keyboard or whatever your preferred medium is!) and I just wish I did.

Matt has just started a blog of his own (even though he doesn't do blogs! ;-) ) and I am absolutely positive that even if he has nothing to say, he will be extremely eloquent in saying so! For those who want to read it is splogbomb.blogspot.com , mind you there isn't actually anything in it at the moment as it is brand-spanking new!!

I am envious of blogs like Caffeinated Librarian or Anna Abroad, as they are created by people that simply seem able to create interesting blogs and I am hoping that with practice via my own blog, I will get a little better! Of course, it is only my opinion that the above blog is interesting; not everyone will like the same style of writing or subject content. But then isn't that the whole point of blogging, that somewhere out there there will be a blog that you find interesting while at the same time there are others that you couldn't bear to read!! (one person's blog is another person's Ikea manual!)

My very first post!

Hello and welcome to my blog! I cannot claim to be witty, interesting or even well-versed in any particular subject, but at least you can find out what I have been doing or thinking lately!!

This will be more fun than email cos I can upload photos and things like that (annnnd you can make comments!!) - just keep checking back to see what mischief I have been up to! ;-)

However, you may have to bear with me while I get to grips with my very first (and probably only) blog as I am still trying to find my way around this, so things may change, get deleted, added or whatever I fancy!!
